The filmmaker Renny Harlin, best known for films like “Die Hard 2”, “The Island of Secrets,” “Cliffhanger” and “Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Lord of the dream”, has relied on Russian-Georgian war of 2008 his new film, “5 Days of War”. Behind the controversial feature film, he worked a cosmopolitan team: Romanian producer George Lascu, director and screenwriter Mikko Alanne Finnish Renny Harlin and Andy Garcia and Cuban actor. According to the director, although this set of nationalities is not the result of any planning, incident that brought them together is a beneficial film.
The film brings to the fore the conflict in the Asia. During the Iraq war, the Georgian contingent of the Allied Forces saved the life of a North American reporter Thomas Anders, which remains friendly relations. Soon, friends Georgians in Tbilisi suspected outbreak of armed conflict between Georgia and Russia on South Ossetia and Abkhazia regions and asks the reporter to come to Georgia and to send a message to international conflict of the situation created.
This, together with cameraman Sebastian Ganz, infiltrates the Georgian daily lives as ordinary tourists, and the conflict escalates are caught in the middle of a shootout. Thus, they manage to film a raid striking innocent civilians at a wedding participants. Since then, their vital mission is to remove the report from Georgia to inform international public opinion about violence they witnessed and the serious consequences that can follow violence in the area.
