45 years after David Gilmour shot ‘Live At Pompeii’ in the legendary Roman Amphitheater, he returned to two spectacular shows, part of his Rattle That Lock tour. The performances were the first rock concerts for the public at the Romanian Amphitheater and for only two nights, the 2,600 participants stood exactly where the gladiators fought in the 1st century AD.
‘David Gilmour Live at Pompeii’ is a complete audio-visual show, with lasers, pyrotechnic effects and a huge circular screen on which the specially created films come to complete the selected songs. Above all, it is the amazing music and performance of a true talent band. The show includes songs from David’s career as well as many classical tracks from Pink Floyd’s repertoire, including One Of These Days, the only song that was also performed at the 1971 band’s show.
This concert-film includes special moments from both shows, filmed in 4K by director Gavin Elder. The two representations also include a special performance of ‘Great Gig in the Sky’ on ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’, which David rarely interprets as a solo artist. ‘David Gilmour Live At Pompeii’ shows a musician at the height of his artistic game, which, together with his world-class band, creates incredible material in a unique setting and with a special occasion.
The song list includes hits from recent solo albums: Rattle That Lock and On An Island, as well as other classic Pink Floyd solos and tracks including Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb.
The concerts “David Gilmour Live at Pompeii” received extraordinary reviews from fans and critics, including a 5-star rating in the Guardian newspaper.
