Alan, a young man of 28, works at the Information Office in Dublin Airport. Alice is waiting to return home to New York. Eight years ago, the couple lived a romance that ended badly. Now, all the hotel rooms in Dublin are reserved. Despite initial distance, Alan gives Alice a room in his house to stay the night there. The two will spend the evening together and both will tell lies about how great they were for each of the eight years that are no longer seen. Gradually, both will start to think that maybe now are more compatible than ever. “Standby” talks about what can happen when, twenty years, nothing comes out as you planned.
