Catherine has his Strangeland center and Matt Parker (Kidman and Fiennes), a couple trying to adapt to the new life in a remote Australian town Nathgari desert. They are nice people, but discrete, not very sociable. Even before the onset of a massive dust storms, their lives are hard tested by the disappearance of two teenage children, Lily and Tom, lost in the desert.
Although the city is covered in red dust surreal and filled with darkness, residents, led by local police, David Rae (Weaving), start looking teenagers. With time, people seem to turn against the couple, antipathy fueled by suspicions, rumors and ancient aboriginal stories whispered. As temperatures grow in the desert, and children’s chances of survival decrease by the day, Catherine and Matthew reach the limit, deeply affected by their uncertain fate.
