A British officer in the Royal Corps of Signals was captured in 1942 by the Japanese army in Singapore and was transferred to a prison camp in Kanchanaburi – Thailand, being forced to work in the construction of the railroad between Burma and Siam and construction The Bridge on the River Kwai. Fascinated by trains and railways, Eric Lomax was accused of espionage and taught Japanese secret police after guards found in his hut a detailed map of the track on which work is due to a translator needlessly tortured young man named Takeshi Nagase, who had planned to destroy it.

A few decades after the end of the Second World War, Scottish Lomax was not able to overcome the psychological trauma caused by the horrors he witnessed on the battlefield, but especially the tortures and humiliations endured in the camp, and hatred of the Japanese who have caused you grind like a cancer. Marrying a second time in 1983 with Patricia Wallace, Eric Lomax found therein relief and moral support it needed to overcome posttraumatic stress and to confront fears and hatred, she’s writing a letter to Takeshi Nagase, after learning that he is still alive, which he asked to meet with her husband to be granted forgiveness.
