Jami and her boyfriend Corey, two high school students from Texarkana, refuge for a moment of intimacy in an isolated area of woodland on the outskirts of the city. Shortly after the park they are attacked by a masked man who kills the boy, while the girl managed to escape alive. But this is just the beginning of a series of murders that would terrify the city in the coming days. The killer, who calls himself the Phantom, recreates the series of crimes that occurred in 1976 in their hometown, whose perpetrator was never found. With few clues, police are helpless in the face of the wave of crimes. The only one who could shed light both on the horrors of 1976, and those occurring now, is very Jami.
Long-sequel film is the eponymous 1976 movie and is also the directorial debut of Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.
