Follow the evolution of a 11 year old boy in the Midwest, Jack, one of three brothers. At first all seems marvelous. He sees what his mother winks soul. She represents the way of love and mercy, while the father tries to teach his son the world’s way, to put himself first. Each parent supports his beliefs, and Jack must reconcile the demands of each. The film darkens as he has first glimpses of sickness, suffering and death. The world, once a thing of glory, becomes a labyrinth.
From this story it appears that the adult Jack, a lost soul in a modern world, seeking to discover through changing scenes of time that which remains unchanged: the eternal scheme of which we are part. Seeing that they all went into building our world, each thing appears a miracle – precious, incomparable. Jack, with new understanding, is able to forgive his father and take the first steps on the path of life.
The story ends in hope, acknowledging the beauty and joy in all things, every day, and above all, the family – our first school – the only place that most of us learn the truth about the world and ourselves, or discover unique important lesson of life, that of unconditional love.
