Thoroughbreds (2017) follows the story of two of her childhood friends, Lily and Amanda, while reconnecting to Connecticut after many years of separation. Lily has turned into a brilliant teenager in the upper class, with a school boarding school and a coveted internship on her resume. Amanda has developed a sharp intelligence and a special attitude, but all in the process of becoming socially excluded. Although they seem to be totally disagreeing, the pair is getting married on the basis of Lily’s disquiet to her stepfather Mark, and with the development of their friendship they start to reveal the most destructive tendencies. Their ambitions cause them to hire a local murderer, Tim, and take things in their own hands to put their lives in order. In this process, they learn that nothing is what it seems to be, and that a crime could solve the problems both.
