True Courage is a Western style story about revenge and honor, brought on the big screen by Joel and Ethan Coen, who adapted the classic novel by Charles Portis and have already received 10 Oscar nominations and 8 nominations for the BAFTA awards, the film already earning a BAFTA Award for Best Picture.
When her father is murdered by Tom Chaney, a dweller on the family farm, Mattie Ross, a 14-year-old girl, starts looking for the murderer, determined to trace her and take revenge. On her way she meets a sheriff who is said to be no more harsh than he. It’s Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn, alcoholic, losing his summer with an impossible character, but Mattie hires him and insists on going with him, despite his opposition. On their way to the Indian reservation where they heard that Chaney was hiding, LaBoeuf joined him, a ranger who was looking for the killer, but for his own reasons. The three have to face dangers and surprises that challenge the true courage of each one.
Outstanding cast, including Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Barry Pepper, and debutant Hailee Steinfeld as one of the youngest and most courageous heroines in American literature, THE TRUTH CURAJ is also directed written for the big screen by Joel and Ethan Coen, and produced by Scott Rudin, Ethan Coen and Joel Coen. Executive producers are Steven Spielberg, Robert Graf, David Ellison, Paul Schwake and Megan Ellison.
The production team of the film is made up of loyal collaborators of the Coen brothers, such as director of photography Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC, the scenographer Jess Gonchor (Capote, No Country for Old Men), costume designer Mary Zophres (Catch Me If You Can, O Brother Where Art Thou?). The installation is provided by Roderick Jaynes, and the soundtrack is Carter Burwell’s creation.
