Paris, 1967. Jean-Luc Godard, the leader of his generation of filmmakers, is filming La Chinoise with the woman she loves, Anne Wiazemsky, 20 years younger. They are happy, lovers, seducers, and marry. But the way the movie was received triggers a profound self-examination in Jean-Luc. The events of May ’68 amplify this process, and the crisis that shakes the director will transform him profoundly, moving from cinema star status to a Maoist artist outside the system.
