A father desperately trying to save her teenage son from an unjust prison sentence infiltrating a drug cartel extremely dangerous.
John Matthews (Dwayne Johnson), a businessman, is devastated when his son of 18, Jason (Rafi Gavron) receive a minimum sentence of 10 years in a federal prison after he was caught with a package that gave him a friend, and were in the package without knowing the boy drugs. Jason refuses to offer ambitious prosecutor Joanne Keeghan (Susan Sarandon) to have his sentence reduced if he agrees to “fabricate” evidence against someone else, so the only solution he sees his father to convince to come undercover Keeghan group of traffickers.
John is projecting thus extremely violent way in the group led by Malik (Michael Kenneth Williams), a smuggler feared, but his efforts to save his son compromise another innocent man (Jon Bernthal). When you give, unexpectedly, over a very important player, a member of a Mexican drug cartel great (Benjamin Bratt), the actions of John, already dangerous, is now turning into a game with potentially lethal.
