The fourth film in the After franchise picks up where After We Fall in Love left off: at Hardin’s mother’s London wedding. While Hardin stays behind to face and reconnect with his past, Tessa returns to Seattle. There, she suffers a tragedy that leads her to make difficult, life-changing choices.

Hardin wants to help Tessa, but is so busy fighting his own demons that he ends up pushing her away. The revelations about his father have shaken his impenetrable facade to the core, and Tessa isn’t sure if she can save him without sacrificing herself.

Tessa relies on friends like Landon to help her through the tough times – and realizes that in order to move forward, she has to fight for herself. She receives news about her health and considers moving to New York to start a new life. Hardin returns and tells Tessa how much she means to him, but it may be too late.
