An American Pickle

The film is based on Simon Rich’s short story published in the New Yorker, and Seth Rogen plays the lead role: Herschel Greenbaum, a worker who immigrated to America in 1920 dreaming of a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working in the factory, he falls into a pickle bowl. The brine preserves it perfectly for 100 years, and when it comes to the surface in modern-day Brooklyn, he discovers that it hasn’t aged for a day. When he searches for his family, he finds out with pain that the only surviving relative is his great-grandson, Ben Greenbaum (also played by Rogen), a gentle and peaceful programmer whom Herschel cannot even begin to understand.
