The Banshees of Inisherin

Two men, lifelong friends, come to an impasse when one of them decides to end the friendship, with alarming consequences for both.
Badly funny in places, depressing and sad overall. People from a small community where everyone knows everyone, are oppressed by isolation and loneliness. The collective depression is disturbed only by a few outbursts of violence by which it tries to cool down a little and get out of the stupor of meaningless existences. Colin Farrel and Brendan Gleeson were the protagonists of another excellent film by Martin McDonagh, In Bruges.
